(Collection of Sanxingdui Museum)
This bronze bird has round eyes, an ornate crest, and fish-scale and cloud scroll patterns on its entire body. In spite of the incomplete legs and tail, it exudes an air of dignified elegance. Similar crest decorations have been unearthed among zun remnants in Pit 2 and bronze vessels unearthed in as far as the mid-Yangtze basin. A similar bronze bird was used as decoration on a lid of a bronze vessel unearthed in Changsha, Hunan, now in an overseas collection. Whether this bronze bird was a decoration on a vessel's lid requires further investigation.
